Our client, The McGrath Group is currently recruiting for a Project Manager based at their site in London.
The McGrath Group is recognised as market leader throughout the UK and Ireland, for its expertise in Architectural Metalwork Fabrication and offers a refreshing approach to the industry by working in partnership with architects and main contractors.
To be considered for the position of Project Manager you must possess the following skills and experience….
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years project management experience
• Have a background of curtain walling, structural steel, cladding, and architectural metalwork experience.
• Preferably they will have some experience in rail work.

Job Role

Planning and organisational leadership for site teams with client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities
• To actively manage and control the site based ‘Project Team’ and subcontractors to ensure the effective and efficient performance of site installation operations.
• Management of / compliance with / and understanding of the project contract terms
• To monitor & control project costs and change control
• To develop and maintain proactive, positive and responsive communication and dialogue with clients representatives, promoting the company’s image and reputation while representing the best interests of the McGrath group.
• To produce, monitor & deliver the project programme by providing adequately detailed installation plans for the site managers and supervisors to implement in line with the clients time requirements and the agreed company cost requirements.
• Close liaison and guidance of the project Quantity Surveyor to maximize commercial opportunities
• To monitor and ensure that the appointment and payment of sub-contractors and suppliers are in accordance with company policy and procedures
• To manage and lead the project health, safety, quality & environmental issues
• To produce Inspection & Test Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and all associated documentation in conjunction with the Site Project Team.
• To ensure management disciplines are implemented and give leadership to site teams in order to meet targets for health & safety, delivery, cost and quality.
• To monitor performance and take all necessary action for the on time and within budget completion of works while maintaining a professional working relationship with the client.
• To co-ordinate internal interfaces to ensure the delivery of design, factory product and materials etc… to meet the delivery programme
• To provide practical advice, knowledge and input into the estimating and design phases of a project to ensure ‘buildability’ considerations are adopted
• To provide support to other company functions by communicating frequently and effectively with senior management, site team, design, purchasing and factory team.
• To breakdown the complete scope of works of each individual contract and set programme parameters with the production team and drawing office.
• To appoint appropriate supervisors, foremen and operatives to each contract, operating a reporting structure and record of works completed.
• To develop and promote a ‘Right First Time’ culture to minimize rework and snagging works
• To actively manage and monitor the contract snagging / close out process
• To ensure the health & safety of all employees with respect to the McGrath Group Health & Safety Policy.
• To establish a successful working relationship with the customer attending all relevant site meetings and recording the minutes of each.
• To co-ordinate third party requirements such as, Road Closures etc… to meet the delivery programme
• To co-ordinate and action feedback on sub-contractors and suppliers and agency workers
• To implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• To actively manage the production of the As-built and O&M documentation
• To produce monthly project reports and submit to the Senior Project Manager and General Manager Operations

Quality

• Must understand the quality standards expected to meet customer requirements and to simplify the task of on-site fitting. They must ensure that their team meets these standards on all manufactured items.
• Must ensure that required company procedures for quality control and assurance are followed e.g. testing and inspection, documentation etc.

Personal Performance

• Must represent the best interests of the company at all times in a professional and positive manner.
• Achieve all operational and client service targets
• Have the ability to motivate team individuals, displaying strong people management and team co-ordination skills with the proven ability to delegate, empower and lead others.
• A good team player that will make a positive contribution to the broader senior management team and maintain an effective/positive relationship with design/production teams in the workshop.
• Demonstrate clear initiative, creativity, and the ability to develop solutions to satisfy customer requirements.
• Must function effectively as a team player with all company personnel maintaining clear and factual communication at all times.
• Must use appropriate reward/punish mechanisms in response to the behaviours/actions of their team. This will include various forms of disciplinary actions in response to attendance problems, misconduct etc as outlined in the disciplinary procedures.
• Must be flexible in relation to overtime, shift-work, holiday working and call-out providing that management requests are reasonable.



Health & Safety

• Must ensure that company safety rules, regulations and procedures are understood and followed by their team and by visitors to the production area.
• Must ensure that risks to any employee’s health and safety are identified and appropriate actions taken to eliminate/minimise these risks.
• Must follow company procedures for accident/incident reporting and take action to avoid re-occurrence.
• Must ensure that personnel within their team have the qualifications/ability/confidence to safely undertake tasks given to them.

Salary
• £45-55k (depending on experience)
• Travel allowance of £5k per annum
